Dental Fillings 89129 By Our Dentist

When cavities have worn down a tooth's structure, the tooth is weakened and in danger of fracturing. In these cases, a dental fillings 89129 is the best solution to save the teeth. The process takes two steps to complete with our dentist. First, the tooth is prepared by removing dental decay, structurally unstable portions of the tooth, and any other tooth structure that needs to be removed to make room for the filling material.

The next step is the placement of the restorative material, which may be any of the following:

  • Composite (resin plastic)
  • Amalgam (base metal)
  • Porcelain
  • Gold
Tooth decay is the leading cause of sensitivity for patients. However, once the appropriate filling is inserted the sensitivity of the tooth is immediately eradicated.

Amalgam Fillings

Amalgam fillings (silver) started way back in the early 1900s. While they were a technological breakthrough back then, the downside today is that amalgam fillings are made of 50% mercury.

Over time, the mercury in amalgam fillings is broken down and released via vapors. There is debate over whether or not the absorbed mercury vapor is enough to be considered a health risk, but there are some who believe it is dangerous to wear amalgam fillings in the teeth. Another downside of amalgam fillings is that there is often tooth decay underneath the filling, including small fractures in the tooth.

Amalgam Filling Removal

In response, more and more people are having their amalgam fillings removed and are using a less-toxic alternative. The safe removal of amalgam fillings requires a carefully followed procedure by an experienced dentist. If an amalgam filling is removed improperly, it could result to a greater, more dangerous exposure to mercury.

The safe procedure to remove amalgam fillings begins with the dentist placing a rubber dam carefully over teeth so that the patient does not swallow any of the removed fillings. A local painkiller is used so the patient is not uncomfortable. A dentist drill is used to take out the amalgam filling and a high-speed suction is used to pull any excess amalgam out of the patient’s mouth. This prevents the inhalation of any of the harmful vapors.

There is also a constant supply of fresh, pure oxygen coming to the patient via another device. Because mercury can be released as vapor when exposed to too much heat, extra precautions are taken to cool the dentist 89129 drill with cold water. Once the amalgam filling is removed, the patient’s mouth is cleaned to make sure it is mercury-free.

Composite Fillings

Composite fillings are the perfect replacement because they can be made in a wide range of shades and colors to find a match to your exact tooth color. Composite fillings are safer and more pleasing to look at than the silver-colored material of amalgam dental fillings 89129. Composites are made of safe synthetic resins and can restore your tooth to near-perfect original form. Amalgam fillings basically just fill a cavity hole. Unlike amalgam fillings, composite fillings can be molded and customized to fit in your teeth.

Dentistry has come a long way since the early 1900s and there is no logical reason for any patient to have amalgam fillings today, but there are numerous reasons to have them replaced with composite dental fillings 89129. To do this procedure, you want a family dentist who is experienced in replacing amalgam fillings, not a first-timer who is still learning the ropes and using your teeth to learn how.

★★★★★ I am absolutely terrified of the dentist. So much so that I had not been in a really long time. When we moved to Las Vegas in 2009 I was referred to Dr. Tran at Cheyenne Dental by my daughter's orthodontist. The entire office staff understood my fear and worked with me to explain every single step of the entire process. Dr. Tran is gentle, kind and thorough. He not only explained the procedures but also provided education regarding dental health
